Often it just
takes a light touch, applied right where it is needed.
Even a small renovation can make a big difference! Before,
the Owners complained that their Kitchen was too dark and
didn’t flow well.
We removed two windows and a door to open the Kitchen up
to an adjacent Sunroom, which became the Breakfast Room.
Then we moved the island over a few feet and rearranged
the cabinets to open the room up and improve the flow.
Only two new cabinets were built – an oven cabinet
(the old ovens were 27” wide) and a display/microwave/appliance
garage cabinet to turn the corner of the island. The countertops
were replaced with creamy granite, the splashes with tumbled
marble, and the floors in both rooms with a light colored
stone in a random pattern. Next we removed the fluorescent
lighting, and supplemented the existing downlights with
3 new ones, and added halogen undercounter lights. Even
with less light going into the space, the new Kitchen is
much brighter. And the Owners love it!
T-Square Construction performed the renovation work, and
Becky Lodewick of Minerva’s consulted on the interior
design.
